Abstract
Scientists from James Cook University's Anthropology, Archaeology and Geography departments join forces with the Pormpuraaw Aboriginal Community, in remote western Cape York Peninsula, in a mapping project that will ultimately assist in the preservation and management of the traditional homelands. The scientific team and the traditional owners are followed as they document the cultural, ecological and environmental heritage of the country. The work of the researchers and the advanced technology used to develop a Geographic Information System is explained.
