Abstract

A survey of attitudes, knowledge and behaviour concerning drink-driving was conducted on a sample of Victorian residents in order to assist with the planning of future publicity campaigns designed to reduce drink-driving. The questionnaire collected information on consumption of alcohol in the preceding seven days, including type, quantity, place, length of time involved, and transport used to return home for each drinking episode. Other sections included driving status, media habits, attitudes to drinking and driving, attitudes to alcohol consumption and personal details. Background variables included education, marital status, position in household, occupation of respondent and head of household, domestic situation, birthplace, period of residence in Australia, age, religion, religiosity and sex.
