Abstract

In November 1954 the Waterside Workers' Federation of Australia struck nationally for a fortnight following the Federal Government's proposed amendments to the Stevedoring Industry Act which, among other measures, would give employers the right to recruit wharf labour independent of the Waterside Workers' Federation.
