Abstract
A lantern slide advertisement for balloon cord tyres, which were beginning to be made in Australia around 1924. The image consists of a drawing that has been photographically transferred onto glass and then hand coloured. A woman wearing a swimming cap and dressed in a bathing suit under a bold check cape looks back at the car from a grassy bank above an estuary. On the water a woman paddles a kayak while a man looks on. In the distance can be seen swimmers, sun parasols and the open beach. Below the scene, in a horizontal box is an unfilled-in space for: LOCAL STOCKIST.
